This report was jointly produced and published by Natural Resources Canada (Canadian Forest Service) and the Sustainable Forest Management Network Centre of Excellence hosted by the University of Alberta. It expands on aspects of forestry that were addressed in the recently released national assessment report From Impacts to Adaptation: Canada in a Changing Climate 2007 published by the Government of Canada.
Climate Change and Canada’s Forests draws on a combination of scientific and technical expertise to provide an in-depth assessment of current and future biophysical impacts, regional vulnerabilities, forest sector impacts and implications for adaptation.

Edited by Philip J. Burton, Christian Messier, Daniel W. Smith, Wiktor L. Adamowicz.

This book consists of 23 chapters summarizing peer-reviewed ecological, economic, and social research conducted by the Sustainable Forest Management Network between 1995 and 2002, mainly in Canada's northern boreal forest.
The chapters - written by 75 of Canada's foremost forestry researchers, private-sector consultants, and SFM Network partners - also incorporate results from other relevant research conducted in Canada and abroad.
Many of the principles of sustainability explored and endorsed - such as management for non-timber values, public involvement, waste reduction, biodiversity protection, improved efficiencies, community empowerment, pollution prevention, hierarchical planning, and adaptive management - are applicable to forestry management throughout the world.
