The SFM Student and New Professionals Network (SNPN)

Welcome!  We are an association of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research professionals with interests in forests and their sustainable management.  The SNPN is supported by the Sustainable Forest Management Network (SFMN).

This website is aimed at providing SNPN members with easy access to the many resources that the SFMN makes available for students and new professionals. These resources include conference funding and many professional development opportunities.

Am I a member of the SNPN?

If any part of your research funding comes from the SFMN and you are a student or a new professional who is not a principal investigator, you are a member of the SNPN (Welcome!).

Opportunities for SNPN Members

Being a member of the SNPN allows you take advantage of a number of opportunities provided by the SFMN. These include participation in SFMN-organized field trips and symposia, supported graduate student internships, travel funding for conferences, and student exchanges. These opportunities help SNPN members to develop skills, build networks, increase their chances of employment, and develop relationships with colleagues, many of whom will be instrumental in the management of Canada’s forests and natural resources in the future. Through this website, we hope to facilitate access to many of these opportunities, and to create a forum where we can exchange ideas, experiences, photos and much more!
