A number of on-going SFM Network research and “state of knowledge” (SOK) projects are potentially of interest to Treaty First Nations in western
Objective
Specifically, several SFM Network research teams and interested Treaty 8 First Nations representatives were brought together for this two-day workshop to:

Provide an opportunity for SFM Network researchers to share their findings with, and to receive input and feedback from relevant Treaty 8 First Nations, and
-
Explore the potential relevance of these projects to ongoing formal negotiations between Crown governments and the Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta regarding “Treaty implementation” and “Treaty-based governance”, as the ongoing need for consultations between the Crown, industries undertaking resource development operations within Crown lands and Treaty First Nations.
